Building Permits: offers statistics on housing units authorized by building permits from the US Census Bureau. This data is available at the State and metropolitan area level and is updated monthly. Through you will be able to access current month, prior year, and comparisons of current year to date versus the prior year. The prior month’s data will be available in within the first 10 days of the new month (i.e. May data will be updated by June 10th.) The US Census Bureau provides it’s Building permits data according to the OMB Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Area definitions adopted in 2003.
